I had an appointment with Jamie Grifo about egg freezing when I was 25. At first i was impressed by the technology and my impression of him was good and that he seemed generally helpful. But when I came in for my physical I informed him that I had been diagnosed with a malformation of the uterus and needed surgery, i also made him aware of the physical pain this malformation was causing. Where to begin with Dr. Grifo and the group at NYU Langone fertility. They are the most compassionate group and truly focus on you and your fertility journey. They are easy to get a hold of and ALWAYS call you back and leave open communication. I cannot speak highly enough for the team here. The nurses are some of the most kind and caring group of people. I never feel rushed or like another patient, they care about each person as their own individual and their own unique journey.
Want to be given the runaround and have your lifestyle judged? The office gives every impression of turning down non-conventional couples for embryo freezing. That’s what happened when I sought them out for IVF: they spent weeks “figuring out” and “looking to see” whether my donor and I could be seen before I had to call repeatedly to find out that they declined us because what is an everyday IVF procedure (directed donor sperm donation) might be a “legal mess.” Avoid. This is a phenomenal practice. Dr. Grifo is personable, knowledgeable, and straight forward. We did two egg retrievals, embryo testing, and frozen embryo transfers and I never felt “lost” in the science or nuances of the complex processes once. The nurses, support staff, and physicians are kind and were always very clear in explaining the fertility processes from A to Z, the treatment plan, side effects, test results, and of course the timing component.
