I tore my meniscus and Dr Macdougall performed a meniscectomy, which was snipping away the frayed edges of where the meniscus was torn. These frayed edges are what causes pain. I recovered very quickly and was pain free from the day of surgery on. I have been able to slowly get back to normal and at 5 weeks, am doing most activities easily. Dr. MacDougall is very personable, knowledgeable, and highly skilled. I feel lucky I was able to have him as my doctor.
According to my reading the surgery should have taken two-four hours. My recovery nurse exclaimed, "that was so quick. I've never seen this surgery completed in less than an hour and a half. The reason was because Dr. MacDougal didn't take the time to adjust my shoulder properly; hence, my right shoulder is visibly two inches shorter than my left, and my right arm is three plus inches shorter then my left. Dr. MacDougall's expertise is 5 star. He listens, examines and gets down to the heart of the issue at hand in order to make a diagnosis. He's also very personable. I'd recommend Dr. MacDougall hands down.
