We have built a total of 7 homes including the one with James Engle. We have been in the home a little over a year and we are just finishing the warranty work. I do not give 5 stars to anything - this is the exception. Their creativity, quality and desire to deliver the home we had envisioned is unparalleled. If you want your neighbors to hate you, buy form James Engle. You’ll have crews working at 6am, they’ll block your driveway and dump gravel in the middle of the street. They do not care about the neighborhood they build in and are a constant pain in every possible way. Obviously disruptions are to be expected with new home builds but they’ve found a way to make it worse.
Everyone we have worked with at James Engle Homes has been professional, responsive and helpful. Great people building great homes!
We built with James Engle 3 years ago and the entire experience with them has been wonderful! Every person we have worked with has been extremely easy and accommodating even years later! If we build again down the road we will use them again!
Jim has proven to be unbelievably difficult to work with. From the initial contract negotiation, to the basement finish to the warranty work I have found him to be completely unreasonable. I have warranty work that needs to be completed and have held back less than 1% of the total price of the house, including basement finish (which was ALL prepaid) in order to get some pretty significant drainage problems fixed.
