When my daughter Shannon was a freshman in high school she was a great track runner. Also a swimmer. She got a pain in her leg at a swim meet. Doctor sent her for an mri. The tech saw something in the leg that had no pain. Saw a mass. Went to Sloan. She had a ubc. Relief. Not cancer. But. Major surgery. Followed by surgery for removal of rods etc. and the growth plate. So. More surgery. For limb lengthening. Crutches. Fear. Went to our 75 year old family dr for bloodwork. I visited Dr. Wittig on August 15 for shoulder pain. During my appointment, he administered a steroid injection without performing any imaging or screening to determine the correct injection site. I expressed my concern and told him that I was worried the injection might cause pain and that I didn’t want to risk missing work. Dr. Wittig went above and beyond his duties as a surgeon to make me feel comfortable and calm during a time of great stress and fear ! It’s over 15 years since that time in my Life and I still keep in contact with Dr. Wittig, that right ... read more

I have known Dr. Wittig since I was 9 years old; in 2012 I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in my right leg - my family and I were worried sick. Thankfully, Dr. Wittig was able to not only save my life, but save my leg as well. I owe him everything, he is a 10/10 doctor and an 11/10 person, I cannot recommend him enough.

There really aren’t words to fully express how thankful my family is for Dr. Wittig. When our daughter was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at 10 years old, it was the most terrifying time in our lives. We saw two orthopedic oncologists before Dr Wittig, both of whom told us that amputation was the only option (one was at a world renowned cancer hospital). As you can imagine, we were devastated. Thankfully, a family member who is a surgeon urged us to see Dr. Wittig for a third opinion. We were hesitant since he was 2 hours away ... read more
