I'm not from or do I live in Ann Arbor but where I stop is at the Jamaican Jerk Pit. I had a taste for Jamaican, Beef Patty and this place was identified as the number one location in the city to go to for anything Jamaican. The atmosphere is cozy, the people are friendly, polite, and helpful. After I ate the first patty, I bought all of the beef and chicken! This is a tasty, cozy restaurant that offered one of the best lunch specials in town back in university (delicious, nutritious jerk or curry chicken/pork, rice & peas, and steamed cabbage all for $6.99, not to date myself). Plantains and patties were always on point, as well, and while it has been years... I recall receiving a generous portion of delicious oxtail the one time I ordered it.
