Pitiful I am very unhappy with this place. I signed up for a 18 month contract May 2007 but 2 weeks into it my mother, who had bone cancer, had broken her hip. I was the primary care giver and I could not go to the gym. I asked if I could cancel my contract and was given a number to call and a web site. It turns out the gym gives their contracts to another company to control. I had to fill out paperwork and send it in stating my reasons for wanting to cancel. Great place to workout !! Great place to work out! Great cardio room! Nice running track! Staff is A+!! Professionally managed, which to me means, very little bs tolerated that could steer you away from a gym. I have been there 9-months after about 17 years out of a gym and have lost a little over 40lbs!! Join!! You will not be disappointed!!
The Place to Work Out Actually the name of this place is "Jackson Sports and Fitness." And, it is THE place to work out in Jackson. At 5:00 AM, the guy that works the front desk is actually awake... which is more than I can say for myself, even though I do walk through the doors a few minutes later and try to get my heart going on a elliptical trainer. 45 lost so far... I have been using this gym for years. Everyone is quite helpful in my journey to the perfect size. Each employee is smiling and giving new ideas and encouragement to the members. The manager is alway eager to smile and wish me a good morning. He has been very helpful in creating a family contract for us. I have nothing negative to say! Only good things! Excellent I have been a member of Jackson Sport and Fitness for about a year. The employees there have been very nice and always willing to help out people that are "Rookies." When I signed my spouse and me up the manager was very helpful in making me understand the contract terms and conditions. They have excellent trainers also, I have lost over 40 pounds since I have been a member there, and I feel like a new person. Long Contracts and High Prices My wife signed up to use the Gym and they told her they only had a 2 year membership. They also charged her $59 a month. The minimum length of the contract was false. They have shorter terms and month to month. They also are only charging $20.00 a month for a two year contract, they saw her coming and took full advantage. Response from GM I am the GM of this business and have been here for the full 5 years we have been open. Previous negative posts about contracts are grossly uninformed. There always have been one and two year membership options. The only members who are month to month have finished their initial contract term. Our membership dues are at the norm for this region. Just What I Was Looking For This is a great gym! It's a Saturday afternoon and the crowd is there to workout. It is not the meat market, so often seen at more "mainstream" gym's and so-called fitness centers. People actually sweat here. The equipment is in great condition and is top of the line. The spacing between equipment is enough to minimize congestion and interference. There is enough redundancy that you are not left waiting for equipment between your sets.
