My husband has dementia and Parkinson and falls frequently. I took him to the ER to treat a deep cut on his head and he was asked if he wanted to go upstairs to behavioral health. We were Told that since it was voluntary that he could leave anytime. With his dementia in an unfamiliar environment, he was aggressive about, leaving and very confused.
