Dr. Waxman managed to send my daughter home in tears. Why he would ever treat a young woman in her 20s as he did my daughter is beyond me. From commenting on her clothing to completely missing her symmetrical knee pain is from playing water polo, he continued to demean her, even questing why she was there. There was even some inane comment about the size of her file. He may be great with patients in his generation, but keep young women aware from him. Dr Waxman is a physician of the old school, and I just love him. I've had a diagnosis of SLE since 1984, and during the years I've been in and out of remission. During my recent hospitalization for pericarditis, Dr Waxman was consulted by my local hospital ER and he graciously offered his advice to my treating physicians. Now I'm seeing him as a private patient, and I could not be happier with a rheumatologist. I hope he doesn't retire in the near future. I went to dr. Waxman about five years ago after having severe side effects and tendon damage from a medication that I was on he confirmed that diagnosis and was gruff but was exact, concise and did listen.
