We waited over half an hour to place an order for food and finally had to go inside and order at the counter because a server never came to take our order. After ordering we waited another 40 minutes for food to arrive. The food was good, local canned beers were $8.50 for a 12 ounce can. Views were outstanding.
Skip the Fish and Chips: I ordered cod fish and chips and wife had the shrimp basket. There was a heavy thick pancake type breading on both the cod and shrimp, to the degree that there was FAR more breading than fish. Seriously had to peel the breading away to look for the fish inside, which was very small. It looked big and great in the basket but it was downhill after that. We loved our lunch at Jack and Aivas! We got the halibut fish and chips to share because no one in our group was super hungry, but it was so delicious (the best we had our whole trip) that we ordered a second basket! It was quiet when we went in there and we were unsure about it but after eating the food I’m so glad we did! Absolutely stop in here if you get a chance!
Jack and Avia’s is always a local favorite when we are in town visiting. The atmosphere is inviting and they have friendly staff. The food comes out hot and fresh. The clam chowder is homemade and so good. They are a rare gem while visiting Seldovia!
