In 2016 My 2001 Camry was rear-ended and the other driver's insurance, Amica, insisted on totaling the vehicle, in which case I would have to buy back at auction, get a salvage title, and re-register the car. 90,000 miles on the car, V6' four new tires and recent brakes. The difference in 'value' and 'cost to repair' was off by simply a couple hundred dollars. Amica wouldn't budge even though their driver took full responsibility.
