An hour into our 18 hour drive time the truck starts running rough, occasionally shuttering like a horse trying to buck an annoying fly and the check engine light comes on. The folks at Oreilly did the check and told us we’d better get the problem solved or we likely be stranded. Recommended going to Jimmy at J and J just down the street. Imho, best mechanic team in Portales. Honest, dependable, and they must double check all their work as I've never had problems after picking up vehicle. Their prices are reasonable. I've learned when you get cheap prices, you often get what you pay for - not much. They also do an inspection on your vehicle so if its an older model like I drive, I can plan ahead on coming repair's costs.
New to the area of Portales and my car broke down, had it towed to J and J and the receptionist on the phone was so nice and gave me a timeline on when to expect news on my car. Turns out my whole engine was busted and Jimmy called my dealership and found out about a recall for me. He answered all my questions and made a bad situation a bit better! If i need any work done on my car i will 100% go back here.
Jimmy was great to work with on a recent claim. Everything was handled quickly, with clear communication and no issues throughout the process. Always good to support small businesses that stay reliable and take care of their customers. Really appreciated the effort and professionalism.
Steer clear of this place unless you want to to deal with rude unprofessional staff as well as extremely overpriced labor. This shop will charge for services not rendered. The owner immediately had a negative attitude when it came to working with insurance to aid in repairing a mechanical issue with my vehicle. Tried to charge me for a diagnostic that was never done.
