I absolutely love this restaurant, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of less. Unfortunately, my experience with carryout yesterday was disappointing. I ordered drunken chicken and honey Sriracha, with brown rice for both meals. When I got home, I discovered I had received two orders of drunken chicken, both with white rice instead. Very disappointed, ordered small received large and had to pay for large. Food came out at room temperature and dry.Waitress never came back and checked on us. Also never asked why the food was not ate.

I was disappointed in the food flavor and quality. We ordered gumbo, jambalaya and red beans and rice. The jambalaya was decent but the others lacked in flavor. The bread was good, along with location but I feel they need to visit the south to see what it's supposed to taste like. Im hoping it was an off day so I'll try it again at a later date.

J. Gumbo’s was delicious as always, and their new location was great! We loved the outdoor seating (indoor seating and bar seating was available too, of course), and the staff was friendly as always. They’re still working out a few kinks in their new place (25th and Hulman), so have some grace if going the first few nights, but you couldn’t ask for kinder people or better food! Also, check their Facebook for the video post about parking!
