Italian Village on a Off Night – Staying at the Palmer House and decided to order in, we choose several dishes so as to share. The garlic bread had no garlic, totally tasteless. THe chicken & Penne Pasta was so bland, the chicken parm, bland, lasagna was flavorful but so overloaded with meat sauce that it was overwhelming. They included a loaf of french bread that had absolutely no taste at all. All in all we were very disappointed, had heard so many good things about this place. My reccomendation would be to look elsewhere ... read more

The Village in the Loop – I love this restaurant. The first time I ate here, I thought it was the cutest place I had ever seen. The ambiance of a little Italian Village is so unique, it gives a lot of character to the place. The food is consistently good and the service is spot on!!!! If you have not been here, you must check it out. You will not be sorry......

Business response:

Dear Lucy, Thank-you so much for your kind review. Everyone here at the Italian Village works hard to make reviews like this happen! Please do not hesitate to say hello next time you visit. Sincerely, Pamella Capitanini

Poured Sauce Down My Back and Barely Said "Sorry" – Food was just mediocre. Service was awful - server poured hot sauce down my back, the "Concierge Liaison" barely apologized, and offered little consolation. I am not from Chicago, it seems like a lot of support is sentimental, it is certainly not the service or the quality of the food. If you don't have loving memories of your parents taking you there as a child, I would highly recommend going someplace professional and with some quality.

Business response:

Dear Mr. DonBmore. As one of the members of the Capitanini family, I am very sorry for the incident that took place in the restaurant during your visit. Once in a great while a server or bus boy does indeed spill on the patron and it is upsetting to us all. I would like to make sure to note that it was the manager that immediately came to your table ,he did apologize, and he did give you his card to make sure any cleaning bills incurred were paid for, and your dessert was taken off the check. Again our sincere apologies, Pam... read more

Delicious food – I am a big fan of Italian food, and this place is pretty excellent. They use top-quality ingredients in the food, and the service is exceptional. My wife and I usually get the Cacciucco, and top it off with a Tiramisu. If you're taking your family, I don't suggest going on a Friday of Saturday night the wait is forever. Overall, I enjoy Italian Village!

Business response:

Dear VikingsMan! Thanks so much for being a customer of ours! Thank you so much for taking the time to review us! You have put a smile on our faces! Pamella Capitanini

Wonderful Dining in the Loop! – Spent the day in the Loop! Saw the Tasset Eye in Prikzer Park - went to Millinuem Park and then headed to the Italian Villlage. They were packed! But , the wait was not more than 15 minutes ...we had a drink in the bar and munched on the complimentary pizza. When seated we were in a quaint booth. After looking around I noticed they were all named after places - but in Italian...the Library-Jail- hospital etc. The atmosphere was fun. The bustling of the waiters the patrons talking and laughing ... read more

Low Quality Italian Food – From the start a basket of stale breadsticks and poor quality unheated bread was placed on the table. I get bread in Brooklyn, NY as good as they bake in Italy so I know the difference. The tomato sauce was not good, they are certainly not using San Marzano tomatoes. The stuffed pasta dish, agnolotti, was not filled enough with ricotta or fresh spinach and the risotto was dry and not creamy. I have dined in the best Italian restaurants in NY, Philly, Boston, Montreal, Chicago and more and this is t... read more

Business response:

Sounds like they have a personal problem. This restaurant has been open for over 80 years and I dine here quite often. It is great !
