Incredible schools and my children have prospered. The only problem with IOW County Schools is Dr Thornton and his run away spending and poor fiscal choices. Under his "leadership" the schools testing scores have dropped dramatically. We have also lost many many incredible teachers and the atmosphere of fear of Thornton is extremely high. pretty pathetic my sister who’s a great student no record at all and gets great grades gets suspended for 10 days along with the boy who brought the alcohol because a boy poured vodka in her pepsi with out telling her and after she took a sip and realized something was off she threw it away. way to go windsor
Parent and grandparent involvement
I think Windsor Elem. and Georgie D. Tyler Middle School has some of the best teachers/staff I've ever met (and I had my children in a private school when they were younger but switched to IOW public schools...never regretted that decision) and I am happy my granddaughter has gone there, as well. Windsor High School also provided my children w/The opportunity to attend The Governor's School
wonderful teachers, admin staff, great things being taught.
Very caring and understanding environment. My son had a very difficult time last year, but with the staff being so understanding and caring, we were able to succeed. We are optimistic and looking forward to his new journey at Smithfield Middle.
We’ve been happy with our son’s experience from kindergarten through ninth grade. He has had many amazing teachers. In high school there are many AP and honors classes to choose from. It is a good size where kids can be involved in sports or music or whatever they love.
A lot of opportunity to succeed. My three kids were able to attend Governors School of Arts and of Science/Technology, and also AP Courses. A lot of caring teachers and staff too.
