I had a really positive experience at Island Smiles. The office manager, Shavon went above and beyond to make me feel heard, welcomed, and cared for. Without going into all the details, she handled a challenging situation with so much grace and professionalism. It turned a tough visit into a positive one, especially after being unsure how to proceed. Highly recommend Shavon and the dental assistant Erin (likely misspelling).
I am hurt and disgusted that I called for an urgent appointment last Thursday with a swollen, obviously infected jaw, probably from a tooth. I spoke with the receptionist who went to talk to Dr Stanley, but only said they would call back after he had finished a procedure. I never heard back that day, or Friday. In over 30 years of seeing Dr Mayeda I needed an urgent appointment perhaps five times, and I was always seen same day. Here I can't even get a call back. I’ve been going there for 15 years or so. Always top notch and gotten many friends to switch to them and everyone loves it.
My sisters referred me to Island Smiles so I set up an initial appointment to try them out. I had to reschedule, but they were able to fit me into a last minute appointment when I called again. The entire process of getting x-rays and the cleaning with Dr. Stanley went well. He was attentive of my concerns and dental history. I have to go back to get some work done, but I'm happy it was discovered when it was.
