Part of the InfoAge Science and History Museum, this section focuses on space exploration with a working radio telescope as its centerpiece. NASA Solar System Ambassador and museum volunteer Frank O'Brien gave me a great tour. Many fascinating exhibits including the Apollo Guidance Computer, a miniature copy of the German V-2 rocket used for radar experiments, and a copy of the first communications satellite produced by Bell Labs in New Jersey. They also have a tree from a seed that went into space.
I took a very quick tour with a wonderful NASA rep. Can't wait to go back.
I have been taking my grandson there for the last two years. His focus is trains and the set up is his favorite spot . The Christmas train display is amazing too. Something to share as well as teach. We just scratched the surface . The computers and the military displays are very interesting. If you like history you will find something to capture your attention.
Plan at least 3 hours. Great approaches to displays.
This is a jewel of a museum for anyone interested in the history of electricity, radio, television, space, and certainly computers. My son and I spent three hours there and wanted to stay longer. Most impressive are the docent who bring incredible professional experience and enthusiasm to their jobs. The museum is on a shoestring budget and deserves to be supported. I can’t think of any similar museum with this amount of history of technology and artifacts in the mid Atlantic.
