There is no way to talk to a live human being
Never thought I’d be so happy to go to a IRS office.. but the help and clarity plus helpfulness was exceptional! I just wish I’d stoppered in 7 months earlier! Got everything straightened out within 30 days! Amen!!
Their phone lines say there's a 30 min to 1 hour wait but they are not answering the phones at all. I waited outside of the office and spoke to an irs agent. She said there were 44 workers and now there are 3. The 3 that are there are doing nothing except opening mail. They are not helping anyone during the government shutdown, but the interests and fees are still being added to your bill.
