Very unhelpful and unprofessional experience with the Iowa DoR. I filed my 2025 taxes and made the payment early March. Yet somehow was double charged and they took out my taxes AGAIN late April. After calling to get it sorted I'm told that there is a 28 day holding period before the refund is processed! 28 day hold for WHAT?? YOU guys made the mistake, you already had my money back in March and had no reason to take it out again. I received a letter for 2025 taxes because of a refund of less than $100. When I say that I can't hate this state enough... I'm not from Iowa and frankly, I don't plan on staying because this absolutely personifies this state. I have never lived around people this obsessed with money while being absolutely poor and wanting everything at a discount. Just the waste of funds being used to question my refund is maddening.
