If you have a staffed office, consider yourselves lucky. Working for the IRS is difficult. The public expects field employees to know everything. However, I've received zero training in my four years with Field Assistance. Pay. It’s front-loaded. The IRS will hire people with no experience with the same salaries it offers veteran employees. That doesn’t end well.
