PLEASE CHECKOUT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREU ON THIS COMPANY. They are not affiliated with the at all, as you will read, THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS, that is why!! Now, on to my review. If I could give this company a 0 star I would. My girlfriend purchased a house 100% in her name, I called to setup the service in my name and they told me I had a past due balance of $250. I never received a phone call, bill or anything stating I owed them anything and here is the best part, my IREA bill was included in my rent payments . So, since th... read more

Business response:

For privacy purposes, IREA cannot discuss account-specific details in a public forum. Per Part IV of our Rates and Regulations, IREA may collect an unpaid balance owed prior to providing electric service to that customer. This includes service that would benefit that customer even if the service is being requested in the name of another person. Regarding due amounts, IREA notifies customers of their amount due via monthly bills sent to the name and mailing address given to us by the customer. The balance owed is the responsi... read more

Criminal, despicable, deplorable, shady company. They make an administrative error that ruins your credit score and because of them, dozens of people lost their jobs and countless lives have been destroyed. Look up the names Amy ******, Michael *****, and James ******. They are all criminals and they all work at Intermountain Rural Electric Association. IREA is a company full of criminals. They are nothing more than lying murderers and thieves. Look at all the other reviews IREA gets on GOOGLE and YELP, all the reviews are E... read more

I am filing a complaint regarding Intermountain Rural Electric Association. I was not receiving information that my bill was, unfortunately, late/not being paid. This morning, August 12th, 1019 at approx. 10:30 am received a very quick knock on the door and a minute later, my service was turned off. When I went outside the man inside the vehicle rolled his window down. I explained “I suppose I need to have him (meaning my husband) pay the bill? I’ll do it now”. Without further notice he drove away. I feel their absolute subp... read more

I am new to Colorado. My choice for electric was IREA. My billing was initially set up incorrectly (meaning they had the right address for the service but the mailing address was off by a digit). The leasing office picked up on it and alerted me. I called IREA and was helped by a lady who said she corrected the account. I then paid a bulk amount (for multiple months). After several months I received a bill (at the right address). Mind you I didn’t receive any other status - just when the bulk amount was used up. I paid again... read more

Business response:

We apologize for the significantly delayed response; it was only recently brought to our attention that this review had been made. On occasion mistakes are made, including accounts being set up with the wrong address. We apologize that getting your address corrected took more steps than should have been necessary. Our records show that in September, 2018 your account was credited for the disconnect notice fee and the re-connection fee.

Can I give no stars? Probably not. Poorly run business. I've been a customer since 2002 and every snow fall is a catastrophe for this company. Always outages. They cannot fix issues in timely manner it seems if they were transported there from Hawaii and have inherited outdated lines, equipment and it's just a monopoly rights can keep them in the service for there is no other company to chose from. Falling snow or rain is not a disaster. I can't believe that they are so incapable. Probably would not be able to run 2nd hand s... read more

Business response:

We apologize for the significantly delayed response; it was only recently brought to our attention that this review had been made. The outage you experienced on March 18, 2017 was due to snow. While snow does not frequently result in long-duration outages, they can occur. This is especially true in mountainous areas that are difficult to access or during heavy snowfall as the weight can also cause damage to lines. We realize that power outages are very inconvenient and IREA crews work hard to get the power back on as quickl... read more
