Wanted to set up a call, he’d told me he was available “anytime”. I said I’d try to call him during a window. When I had personal and work things come up, I called 2 minutes late. He now refuses to work with me as he sees it as an “interview”. Very rude and non empathetic response. Terrible way to treat prospective patients. Best of luck being judged by a “provider”.

Hugh is a nice person and I would say a good counselor for someone with minor depression or GAD. However, Hugh was not a good counselor for me. I have trauma and OCD. Hugh determined that I was projecting my trauma from fiction on to real life. He also told me to handle my OCD, I needed to "ignore the thoughts". Anyone who knows about OCD will know how unhelpful that is. After I left Hugh's practice, I found first an OCD specialist and then a trauma specialist. My elementary school aged daughter was experiencing anxiety and irrational worries that led me to seek out a therapist for her. She saw Hugh every week for almost 1 year. She enjoyed the sessions immensely and it was clear that she was benefiting from Hugh’s gentle approach. He is wonderful!

Hugh is the counselor I wish I'd met 20 years ago. So I was quite pleased to to be able to refer a good friend for his services. Hugh's deep presence and mindfulness inspires me and opens space where I feel comfortable shining my light and exposing and working on removing my blockages. I honestly cannot imagine a more attuned or effective therapist for adults and children.
