My child has been Dr. Akin’s patient for many years. He is so kind and supportive. We have never been pressured about medication or other therapies. I love that he takes the time to allow the child and the parents to speak and share their concerns. I truly wish that it was easier to get an appointment, however, being the only child psychiatrist in town, I don’t know how he does it.
Our initial appointment was made for May 2024. We received a call 2 days prior to the appointment and told us that he wouldn't be in that they would have to reschedule us for THREE MONTHS later. Fast forward to August, we go to him. It was a great meeting we rebook for November as requested by him. We get a call 8 days prior to our appointment that we need to reschedule for the next available appointment because he won't be in...the next available appointment is the END of February. Told him possible medical problems I could have. Told me I was to young so it's impossible. Go to a adult doc and they tell me what I thought. Bad doctor
