The restaurant does indeed deserve its strong reputation as a go to for local seafood. The restaurant is popular, therefore the wait can be long. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, a drinks stand, live music and a lovely walk along the beach to watch the sunset which made the wait a breeze. The clam chowder was hearty and very tasty. Every year, on our yearly vacation to Montauk, we look forward to eating at the Inlet. This year was no exception. However, our meals were a disappointment, but not in the past, very puzzling. My wife and I ordered the fra diavolo. Between the TWO meals, there were 4 shrimp, 6 clams, one handful of mussels, and calamari. Several of the mussels were closed shut, and could not be eaten.
