When previously buying a car, the car dealership has always dealt with informing DVLA that the car has changed ownership. We assumed this had been done in this instance as well (which it hadn't). We were then handed a fine by DVLA. The car was sold to us by Ben who then tried to claim he had told DVLA about the car being sold (a lie).
