DO NOT STAY HERE. Upon arrival- doormen were lovely, reception was obviously not wanting to be there. First glance at the room, flies everywhere especially on the pillows. Scuff marks all through the walls, needs a good clean or new paint. Day 2, were gone all day and left the green light on for housekeeping to come. After arriving back the room was in the same state as when we left. Thats ok stuff happens could have simply been missed. It’s an interesting hotel as you can see how opulent it would’ve been in the 2000s and early 2010s with the Versace branding and clout and celebrity visits. But the rebrand and withdrawal of a lot of funding has made it go downhill, it would be very expensive to run a hotel of that size especially in Australia and corners have been cut and experience reduced as it’s just a slightly upmarket hotel now with dated and worn furniture and interior and exterior paint that’s very 2000s. Overall, still a beautiful place. Stayed previously when it was Palazzo Versace. It is still looking a little tired in places - mostly damage to hall carpet, woodwork quite knocked around, tired bathroom fixtures. But vibe is still classy. Lobby is outstanding. Love it. Some staff were awesome- others a bit average. Guy on concierge was the most helpful person I've ever encountered.
