On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, I went to Illy’s as a walk-in and had Sondes as my barber. Moral of the story: I will not be visiting this establishment again and for anyone who plans to, I suggest you check all tools prior to allowing Sondes to do anything to your hair. As a walk-in I knew I was going to take the next available barber and Sondes happened to be that. Quality service, people, and atmosphere. Illy's is a great place to go if you need a haircut at the last minute. I will be a returning customer and recommend it to all. Five Stars all day.
The barber, Sondes, sliced up my entire neck so badly that I was still bleeding uncontrollably after my shower. The pain was intense and constant. She burned and stung the open cuts with alcohol cloths, even after I was visibly wincing and asked her to stop. The whole thing was extremely uncomfortable and careless. to make matters worse, she charged me extra because she “shaved me”, even though I only asked for a haircut and beard trim. I left in pain and frustration, vowing never to return.
Apparently, Illy's Barbershop is incredibly popular among the teenagers at Gunston Middle School (in Arlington). And those teens are right. What a fantastic place for a great haircut for my teenager. And the first time a barber actually listened to him, gave him more than the standard 15 min cut, and cut his hair exactly as he asked. Thank you so much Illy's Barbershop. We'll be back.
