They are the most difficult company to pay I have ever encountered. They rely solely on your desperation to not have your water shut off. Every number I call I get a dead end and their physical location isn’t open. I can’t pay online either due to it saying my account doesn’t exist. Truly a terrible company that relies solely on the fact they are your only option.
Can't even log into MyWater account. The info on the website says my info is incorrect, however, multiple representatives have proven that the info is correct when on the phone. Why can't that work? I would like to be able to see my bill online and pay it but I have to call just to ask how much is on my bill.

American Water is a horrible company. If we could go to any other company we would. We were one day late with our payment no notice or anything and some employee came knocking on our door to shut the water off. We only owed $100 and 1 day late. This company needs to stop being so tyrannical over 1 day. There was no notice mailed and no notice on our account web page either. The employee who came was extremely rude as well. My dad had an emergency and needed water shut off. They sais they were on way over and an hour later still hadn't showed up. I tried calling to get through and automated customer service wouldn't allow to talk to a real person. Worst customer service ever.
