She talked about my child's issues and even about my personal problems with my son in the room, listening to everything. There were many times that me and my husband were even discussing in front of him.

I really wish I had seen the reviews above before bringing my child to her. I could have written them almost verbatim. My child has been through a lot of trauma and a contentious divorce between their parents. I had to fight to get them into counseling. The other parent contested. I finally felt relief that my child would be under the care of a professional who could speak on their behalf if needed as a mandatory reporter. From the beginning, I knew something was off. Wow. My son has been through a lot and needed to see someone. Mrs. Ilene Scharf seemed to take no genuine interest in my son's experiences and feelings. Instead she's preferred to make unhelpful suggestion after unhelpful suggestion. We follow her instructions, to no avail. I decided to stop sessions when it became apparent that Mrs. Shcarf thought my son was at fault for several instances which he had zero control over. The thought that she might have suggested that to him in private sessions makes my blood boil.

Ilene was highly unprofessional and often fanned the flamed between my ex-husband and I. The last straw was when she said she would only communicate with one parent (which is against the law). When I managed to jump through enough hoops to get my child's records, she had made disparaging remarks about my child in her notes. I opted to take my child to her because she was one of the only play therapists in town, however she lacks the qualification of LMHC, she is a social worker.
