If you’re looking for a good dosa and onion uttapam, Idly Express is the place. I went for Sunday brunch and that combo just hit the spot. Food is genuinely tasty. My favorite drinks here are rose milk and coffee. Staff is helpful and there’s plenty of parking. Only downside: no real seating. They have a couple tables outside, but it’s inconvenient, and during rush hour you probably won’t get a spot. Stopped by for a quick bite for breakfast and got the Idli 2 Vada combo with sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato chutney. The idli was one of the best I’ve had at an Indian restaurant! Sambar and coconut chutney were also amazing, but the tomato chutney was too sweet. They were super generous with the portions for chutneys and sambar. South Indian breakfast is meant to be eaten hot and fresh, but this place offers only take out. There are 3 tables outside which may not be available or not good if it is cold outside. Food taste seems to be good, but got very limited chutney in cups.
Bought Garlic Pickle and Narthangai Pickle yesterday, the outer layer packing looks good. I opened the outer layer packing then opened the pickle and found MOLD in the pickle. Do not buy anything from this place. I called the cashier and shared the details before write this review. I bought it from Idly Express - Milpitas. Do not play with customer's health to make money. The atmosphere was homely. It was perfectly located for us that morning as we were returning home from an event in Milpitas in the way to San Mateo. The sambar was great. But the chutney was watery and the sweet was well — too sweet :-) However those are not the reasons for the low rating. It was the mini idly with molagaapudi. The topping was smeared with fried oil.
