My son recently attended the Crunch Labs Camp at Stanford, run by iD Tech. Since he is a massive fan of the Crunch Labs show, we expected a highly engaging, hands-on experience. We purchased the 5 day camp in Portland at Lewis & Clark. Based on our experience, the camp is not suited for autistic or ADHD kids. The counselors aren't trained, they lack support, and if your kids acts out in the environment which is low supervision -- they will boot you out without a pro-rated refund. Note we did provide ample information about our son and his needs. It's very expensive childcare. My child seemed to be playing games for hours a day and by the 3rd day had learned nothing about coding or robotics.
This is a review of the CrunchLabs week camp. The camp was very expensive, and I expected the kids to actually learn. Instead, I discovered that they give them one CrunchLabs box to assemble—which is pretty easy—and after that, they just watch YouTube for the rest of the day. No teamwork, no team projects, no discussions, and no collaboration. Just get a kit, watch a video on how to assemble it or follow the instructions, and stare at a screen for the rest of the day
We have done these in California and Phoenix. The trainers are great. But much better organized in California. Bit of a mixed bag of bad organisation in Phoenix.
Id Tech Camps has a 2.8 star rating with 80 reviews.
