Unethical Educational Institution My son attended an ID technology camp in Portland, Oregon, last summer. He was completely unmotivated by the camp. The cost of the camp was over $2,000 for five days. He was furious and complained to me. The camp instructors are all recent high school graduates. They hire low-wage workers without teaching certifications. There are no older instructors leading the camp. They are all 18-year-olds.
My three children attended the robotics camp held at Bentley University. We let the camp know well ahead of time my 7 year son is autistic; we were assured they worked with ASD kids regularly and this was not a problem. Second day, my son was having a hard time, was asking counselors for help and was ignored. Complete waste of money and irresponsible leadership. We signed up AI/ML summer program (5 day) for our 12th grader. They mixed up 8th graders and couple of 12th graders, made them played in the lawn/playground for the first 2 days. Alex the specialist was of no use. After multiple conversations, they said they will refund a partial amount. Had to pay just for standing outside. Do not waste your money and time. I sent an email to the leadership but they did not even care.
Went here a few times at MIT when I was a kid and had fun. But one time, I took a class and my counselor, Zip (Eric Baicker-McKee) was the worst part of that experience. He was uncaring, inept, and thought it was okay to bully and berate me and my friends over anything. Insults, condescending names, and threats. Basically, an "I'm a counselor and I can do anything I want and get away with it" kind of attitude. We all reported him and the camp said they'd be looking into it and I hope he was fired, or disciplined at the least... read more
This camp feels very dull and fake. There is zero sign of joy here. You had to buy your own tools and equipment for the lessons there. It makes you feel like you paid $1,300 for nothing.
