Based on my $1200 experience with Brickman I would never recommend to anyone. His sole purpose is to avoid adding another case in the system regardless of the children involved and couldn’t care less. Not sure how else he is compensated. He spent over 8 hours trying to drill in me how settling would be so much better than going to court because I would fail. I am intentionally taking the time to write this review for a number of reasons. When a couple separates, many are unaware of the importance of mediation, and more crucially, of selecting the right mediator. As a clinical therapist who works with families and children, and currently in the process of completing my family mediation certification, I've had the privilege of observing Mr. Brickman in several mediations. Matthew Brickman was very nice, however I didn't feel that anything more was accomplished than what the attorneys can do without the mediator and the high cost of mediation, $825 in total for three hours not including the cost to have my attorney present. It was all virtual and we were never in the same "chat room". My attorney & I were in one "room" and my ex and his attorney were in a different "room" with Matthew going back and forth between us.
