$65 for two entrées of awful-tasting food—what a joke. They claim the portions are large enough to "share with friends and family," but take a look at the attached photos and see the reality. Funniest part? The server whispered not to tell the owner she hooked us up with "extra." If what we got was extra, their standard portion must be microscopic. Unless you enjoy throwing money away on bad food and stingy portions, avoid this place at all costs. Never coming back.
I've been trying to visit all of the Bkack-owned restaurants in the IC/CR areas. I found this one online yesterday. I was happy that they were open yesterday because most of the other places are closed on Mondays. I ordered the jolof rice and lamb plate. The jolof was delicious. Ordered Ethiopian food here and I can honestly say, it was the worst Ethiopian I have ever had. The injera was rubbery and had not been fermented at all. The vegetables were flavorless like they had just been take out of a can. Then no much food in my order. $62 for flavorless Ethiopian is not what I had in mind.
This was our second time ordering. The first time was phenomenal after not having Ethiopian in a while. This time was disappointing. The injera had rubbery taste, tips was lacking flavor uncompared to the collard green. The meal lack flavoring. It was more of waste of money.
I moved to Iowa from Chicago 5 years back and I've been eating egusi and fufu since I read a kid, my friend bwanalis mother always made it for me, she knew it was my favorite, so when I come get and taste it and it tastes burnt you can imagine my surprise when I can in to tell them that the rate is off and she tells me that's how it's supposed to taste and I wouldn't know because I've never eaten it before....I was taken aback by such brazen arrogance.
