Ten year ago, there were many informal group sessions that were available within the Gorwelion Resource Centre. I attended an excellent course of group sessions on Mindfulness by a wonderful man called James. This day centre now provides no group sessions of any kind because of it's underfunding and understaffing. This centre was once a vibrant centre of community mental health but now it is very silent in comparison to how it used to be. Never have I genuinely felt so disrespected and ridiculed for my mental health before. Begging for help, and all I am told is that I’m stubborn and treated as if I am unworthy of their time. Not to mention I was directly told I was giving my friends trauma for asking for help from them. At least they did a better job than this government funded service. Genuinely have never been made to feel so small and embarrassed.
From my experience, staff here were so friendly and helpful, wouldn't have been able to manage in a difficult time without them.
