Was told I could check in early, decided to spend more time in Santa Cruz and checked in at 4 instead but my room was still not ready. They told us it would be 30 minutes for a clean room. That was unacceptable especially waiting with our 4 children. I requested an available room and was expected to pay for any upgrade fees. Sucks management couldn’t realize the ridiculousness of not having my room ready by check in and not 90 minutes after. I had to request those fees be waived due to the inconvenience. Great staff; good location, although Broadway traffic can get loud; hearty and varied breakfast; nice rooms with good showers. Edit March 2025: ground floor rooms near the pool are terribly noisy until 10pm! Staff needs to be on top of guest requests. For the 2nd time in a row, I asked for feather-free and had to wait while it got straightened out, as no one had noticed that note.

The staff was friendly, the food from the complimentary breakfast was great and they had healthy and vegetarian options as well. I suppose the oatmeal and fresh fruit and orange juice and tea could suffice for a vegan breakfast. The only complaint I had was the charge for the parking. When I had booked, it didn’t state it until I received the notice of confirmation of stay from the hotel direct. I did book through Agoda, so that may be why it wasn’t listed.
