I stayed at this Hyatt Place Daytona beach-oceanfront property right after last Christmas, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The location is definitely a highlight—being right on the ocean with easy beach access is wonderful. The room itself was acceptable, though it felt a bit outdated and could use some renovation. First of, they use part of the hotel's name "ocean front" for the rooms so you would think you're getting an ocean front room but you're NOT, per the employee eddie and adina or edina. Thats very misleading. Secondly, I booked this stay online on their website and my total after taxes was $351 something change for 2 nights. Then I saw they charged me $364 the day i was checking out, I asked why the difference, oh thats after taxes or the $15 security charge. The room was spacious with a nice layout. We had a balcony overlooking the beach and it was a fantastic view. The bed was decently comfortable as was the couch in our room. We were surprised that there was no microwave in our room as we tend to just expect them, but it was fine for us. The one major issue I had was the bathroom sink. The faucet does not overhang the sink bowl enough so you either have to put your hands directly onto the sink bowl to wash your hands or you will easily splash water onto the counter. We have been coming to this location for 20 years to visit my husband's family. We loved this location because it was on the beach, nice free breakfast, friendly staff, clean rooms, nice balcony, etc. This trip was horrible. The staff were rude, had one working elevator which we found out has been out for over 2 wks, breakfast was sad, rooms not the cleanest, the shower shampoo/conditioner/body wash empty, no furniture on the balcony to sit, and no air conditioning in the hallways. It was just after spring break so maybe they got really worked over here but we arrived at Bed time for our kiddos and found that there were no sheets for the pull out couch, only a blanket, the bathroom did works close without me lifting it up to keep it from scraping the floor and only one elevator worked. I'm good with the stairs but you can't access the stairs to go up so we had to wait for 10 minutes to get up to our room. Going down the stairs to get things from our car we found that the stairwell smells like Marijuana... read more
