Ok it's official I tried to give them the benefit of a doubt, but the IBD center at mercy is not what it seems.... They consistently state that they're for the benefit of the patient no I don't think so, the center does not leave room for the patient to advocate for themselves. I believe who better to know their body then the patient themselves. And the inability to express to the IBD's center Dr and staff what your body can and cannot handle is very sad to me. Dr. Bitar exceeded all my expectations so far! He took his time and gave me mine, looked me in the eye, let me talk and listened to me, and demonstrated that I will have a say in the process of my own care. Also demonstrated real critical thoughtfulness about my case. He makes it feel collaborative and not like I’m a number. And that makes me feel safe. Really looking forward to continuing in care under his oversight.

When a physician listens to a patient's narrative, including their history and experiences with previous treatment plans, it helps... read more
