Best in Davis I don't know what these mediocre reviews are about... I've been going to Hunan's for nearly 6 years (while in school and even now that I live in Sac) and it's always been top notch. Oddly enough I've never gone for the lunch special that everyone raves about, but dinner is great. I highly recommend the "general chicken".
I usually go here during the lunch special which all meals are around 5 bucks with soup or salad. I usually also get the Honey Walnut Shrimp... YUM. Its cheap, quick, and easy. So if you need a quick fix for lunch go to Hunans.
Lunch Specials!!! Lunch specials are the only reason I go to this restaurant. Any other meal or entree is just too expensive for the item you receive. But, for 5$ during lunch you can get an amazing meal that is large.
Large portions for good price, but.... the lunch specials are huge, and cheap. But the quality was almost at the level of a panda express, wok and roll, or mr chans. it seems like fast food chinese quality with larger portions and nice decour. the meals ive had here were generally cheap enough so that i payed in cash, however the thing about the tax seems odd. tax is charged by the city or state, and is a fixed rate, so if they are charging more for tax they are pocketing it.
Hunan This place is pretty decent, though it's kind of dirty. The lunch special is pretty cheap. I got the curry chicken and it came with salad, fried wonton, fried rice, and chow mein for $5.00
