Great views, nice hike with options for a shorter hike (0.8 mi / 1.2km) or longer excursion around scenic picnic area (4.2 mi / 6.8 km) to the same awesome craggy overlook. Connects with the Appalachian Trail for even longer options. Shorter hike is pretty steep and a technical scramble in areas. It is still kid friendly, but be prepared for sore legs and numerous snack breaks. Overall, really gorgeous example of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.
Hard hike but totally worth it! Just do it!
Beautiful hike! It is fairly steep going up but not too long, so decent for hikers with varying levels of experience. The view at the top is stunning.
