I read in its website that HRLSC provides free legal advice so I requested for a legal consultation but did not get one for 6 months. I submitted a written complaint to the Ombudsman and a week later I got an appointment. However, I spoke to a rude and condescending lawyer who repeatedly told me to settle. When I asked what my legal options are, she got really annoyed at me and angrily told me to "just settle". They don’t care about what you have to say. They offer no help, no insight and even decided that your case probably would be dismissed even before I heard back from the HRTO about discrimination in the hiring place. They were reluctant and disgusting in their behaviour and extremely disengaging. Do yourself a favour, don’t call these people and just file directly with the HRTO.
