Hubby had open heart surgery at citrus memorial inverness, fl. Dr. Van Gelder was absolutely amazing. He explained everything to us. Was courteous, great bedside manner and treated us with respect. We felt safe with him. We highly recommend him. But he just fills in when the regular surgeon in not there. We also had Dr Topi which is also a top notch cardiac Doc. We recommend him too.
A true professional in every way. Dr. Van Gelder performed a quadruple bypass on me at Bayfront Hospital. I had zero complications and am back to vigorous good health because of him. In addition, to his surgical skills, he gave us every bit of information my family and I needed to be at as much ease as possible both before and after the procedure. I highly recommend him and his team.
He saved my life. I am so grateful for him and his excellent compassionate staff.
I had a aorta valve replacement 2 years ago. I had nothing else wrong with my heart. He checked up on me all day long after the surgery. Very surreal experience and everything was perfect.
This man walks on water in my book. Three other Massachusetts cardiologist told me I needed a heart transplant, Dr. VanGelder says "no you need a good thoracic surgeon, and that's me!" I can't say enough good things about him. As surgeons can be well, full of themselves, Dr. VanGelder is not and never talks down to you like I've had other surgeons do. The next time it snows in Florida I will shovel his driveway.
Dr. Van Gelder is very competent,has a great sense of humor,and a caring demeaner.
