We refuse to use Howies as many neighbors throughout the places we have lived in Manhattan, Kansas have. Everywhere we have lived we have to clean up trash every time a Howies truck passes by. They use mechanical bin dumpers that throw trash into the air and all over the yards and streets. We are tired of picking up trash and recyclables that should have made it into the trash truck and are not our mess. All around great company. When setting up the service or calling about questions, the staff has always been friendly and helpful. They did great letting us know of holiday schedule changes. Even though I got 3 emails, I still forgot. I walked out this morning and our trash was still collected because the staff went and grabbed it for us. I definitely didn’t deserve their generosity, but I truly do appreciate it!

I’m not sure if there’s a new guy working our neighborhood but the first time -which was reconciled- we’ve had issues was a month or so ago the guy got aggravated and threw our personal trash can against our fence and broke the trash can, the second time which was last week he left trash from my neighbor’s can all down the road in front of their house which I picked up because it was blowing around and our neighborhood is pretty clean as far as random trash on the side of the road. "Supposedly" they notified everyone of changes in pickup time because of the holiday. We were never notified so our stuff without normal time around 7 am to get picked up after the holiday and they never came. Even though my husband called that afternoon and was told they were still doing rounds and it would be picked up. We now have to hold onto our recycle for another two weeks because they "supposedly" let everyone know to have bins out by 5am even though we were never notified. The two people I've interacted with from this company we're flat rude. The driver and then management that was called afterwards both do not know how to handle people and I understand that they work with trash and deal with trash but they don't need to treat people like trash. Completely unprofessional.

The wind was insane yesterday and it was recycling day! So bad combo. My neighbor texted me during the day to say my bin had blown away and cardboard went everywhere. I got home after Howies had already come by and the recycling man seriously picked it all up. Sweetest thing ever. I really appreciate the extra work he put in to grab it all!!

I forgot to put my cart near the curb on my trash day and the pick-up experts went to get my cart sitting next to the garage and dumped it anyway. I've been a customer for a month. I'm really impressed! Who does that? Howie's!
