I would give these idiots a zero if I could. I have been out of work since March of this year because of COVID. They submitted a case against me which I answered in July and said that I could start paying March 2021. That wasn't good enough for them. Now I have a virtual court hearing with them on December 15th. Today is December 11th and I just got the letter from the court. Horrible company, preying on bad times. In attempting to pay off what I thought was a small balance, I find I owe more now than 10 years ago, due to interest charges PER DAY!! And I’ve been paying monthly!! They will scam you and take your money!
Today I made a payment to Schiff. I wanted to view my past payments so I clicked search between April and June 2020. I received a response indicating that there was no record! I have no idea how much they have received over the last several years. It seems my balance is not decreasing. The company does not follow best practices in terms of their transparency. There is a good reason why this company is not BBB accredited. They don't play fair. They are leeches and operate under a totalitarian policy. They don't give a rats ***about you, your child or your elderly mother that has cancer. They will take you to court and try to ruin your life. This is one company the world would be better off without.
Howard Lee Schiff and their representatives are absolute monsters. They don’t contact you until they’ve brought you court — they don’t even show up in court or notify the court that you’ve been making payments — so be sure you have records to show you have, and they will bleed you drive. They try every intimidation tactic in the book and are absolutely ruthless. They are bloodsucking vultures and I have dealt with much better debt collectors in my time who I’d rather deal with again. I have had a mostly positive relationship with HLS. However, I did review my bank account one day to find they took $21,000+ to pay off my entire debt of which I do not recollect ever authorizing. It's a long story, but was quickly rectified due to my own careful eye of my bank account. My biggest gripe with them is who they represent - Bank of America. They are horrible... They wont contact you until they already sent you to court. They just wiped out my checking account by warrant and have had no interaction with them in months. I owed 7000 to home depot and have been paying for 2+ years and they say I still owe 7000? They took 1400 today plus 100 service fee? really..
