I have never dealt with a more unprofessional office. I was referred by a patient of Dr. Schakett’s and scheduled an appointment for August. (Keep in mind I made this appointment in February- it was the soonest they had available). I received a call a few hours prior to the appointment time stating that the doctor had an emergency surgery and needed to reschedule. They tell patients that for the genetic testing when asked how much is the cost. There is an amount that it should not go over $300 of the co- payment matters what the insurance is billed for. I was instructed from the nurse to call a particular number and to talk to Invitae about this said bill and to make them aware of the amount it should not go over. Invitae says no this is not true and they "never heard of such a thing". It is unethical to tell a patient that this is the cost of something and still deal with the Invitae... read more
