Our experience with Dr. Houston's practice was disappointing. He recommended surgery for my son for something that did not cause him pain or any symptoms. Common sense told me that we needed a second opinion, and sure enough, a urologist at Lurie confirmed that a surgery is not needed in cases like my son's. Additionally, there was an issue with the labs order that Dr. Houston's office sent to Lurie. Per Lurie, Dr. Houston's office made a mistake, but Dr. Houston's office refused to own the error. Dr John Houston is simply an outstanding Urologist. My son has seen several of the urologist over the years and if you are considering which of the Top urologist to see, he is absolutely one of the best. He is extremely intelligent, kind, spends as much time as needed to complete an examine and most importantly; listens to the patient and parents concerns. Dr. Houston is such an amazing doctor! He talked to my son instead of just to me, explaining the procedure and what he should expect. He put us both at ease, and I felt so comfortable with our plan.
Dr. Houston is an amazing urologist who goes above and beyond for his patients. My son recently had a major surgery that required him to be hospitalized for 3 days. Dr. Houston came to the hospital Saturday night after he worked all day to check on my son. Yes he runs late for his appointment times but, he has been helping my son for 12 years. I wouldnt go to anyone else.
Nice guy and doctor ...terrible scheduling..I left because we drove an hr for my sons appointment and waited almost an hour and 15 minutes before receptionist gave our appointment to someone who came after. The person threatened to cancel their appointment so they gave up our spot after that customer was told we were in front of them. I also overheard receptionist tell other family that my appointment wouldn’t take long because it was a follow up. I don’t appreciate my business shared like that.
It was not a good experience at all. He was condescending to my me and my 8yr old son. He did not believe the severity of pain my son was having everyday. It felt like we were being brushed off. No Stars
Amazing urologist, my VERY young daughter has experienced chronic UTIs and Kidney infections starting at just 7 months old and went on until almost 2 while trying to find the right specialist to find out what was going on. Dr. Houston had met with us just a couple of times and while she required surgery with him, he took such great care of my daughter! She is now almost 4 and has not had an issue since! He's very friendly and just simply amazing! HIGHLY recommend!
