Dr. Westenburg is a wonderful vet and human being. When it was time to help my buddy, Max, over the Rainbow Bridge, the care and compassion that Max and I received from Dr. Westenburg was first class. Travelling to us, and seeing my dog exactly where he was, alleviated some of the terrible stress and anxiety that accompanies the difficult decision to let go a beloved pet. When I first called Dr. Westenburg I was very upset as I was saying goodbye to my best friend, an almost 12 year old English Bulldog (Bowser). Dr. Westenburg is an older gentleman, and in my emotional state what I mistook as a bit of a grouchy personality was just him not being able to hear me very well. My wife called him later and said he was very kind, and then when he arrived he was absolutely wonderful. A lot of times when someone needs a veterinarian to come to the home, it's an emotional time, and this was certainly the case when we called Dr. Westenburg. He was caring, professional, and dealt with our dog in a kind and very professional manner. He said many things to help us through the difficult time of having to say goodbye to our 14 year old Great Pyrenees. Dr. Westerberg was very kind and took time with us. We didn't feel rushed at all. He explained what would happen and then allowed us to hold him until we felt comfortable letting him go. It was a very comforting way to let our family pet go. Our 13 year old dog, Booker was with people he loved in his own home. I would recommend Dr. Westerberg if you want the best end of life for your pet. Grateful.
It is difficult to say you've had a positive experience when you've had to let go of your beloved cat. However, I can truly say that Dr. Westenburg gave us the best last moments with my girl Givenchy, in her own familiar surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. It was very reassuring that Dr. Westenburg could come to our home and allow my Givenchy to go in the comfort of my arms and to not have her go through the terrifying car ride to a scary clinic at the end of her life.
