I’ve been to House of Skin in Sherman Oaks several times and usually have a great experience. I honestly wish I lived closer so I could come more often. That’s why I was really surprised and disappointed by what happened today. I booked the 75-minute prenatal scrub + massage. Their website markets this as a specialized prenatal service, notes it can be booked up to 29 weeks, and the booking form asks how far along you are. Absolutely APPALLED by this business. My sister in law gifted my mother a $250 gift card to come here for a scrub and massage. My mom called and booked the day before requesting both a scrub and massage, and when she arrived the next day, they told her the tech will only have time to do a scrub. My mom, still being nice with no idea what that would turn to, agreed. I did my first appointment yesterday and it went great. I like that it’s a Vichy shower, and skin prep is included in the treatment time rather than having to arrive 30 minutes early like needed at Koreatown spas. This is a great option (although expensive) for woman like myself, who like korean body scrubs, live in the valley, and don’t care to use K-town spa communal heat rooms & other facilities.
