Run around Gave me a huge run around about adopting a kitten, just to tell me it was denied one month later. Called previous times in the month and was told to wait for the call. Was not happy with the management, the lady on the phone did not even pretend to care or reason. I had my heart set on a kitten from there and they gave me a really stupid reason for why I absolutely could not adopt from their business. Previous ownership of a cat in the same home did not make me the owner. They held it against me that my family had outside cats. So what does that mean when you basically feed a feral cats? You're a bad person for that? Don't make me laugh. Regardless of that another reason was because we had to return one of our cats to a previous owner, because it was sick. We were not notified it was prior to adoption and we were in the middle of a move. Advice to anyone that goes here, don't list your ownership history. Because they don't even call to clarify any of the details with possible adopters. You'll be sitting there being told for weeks, when you call to wait around. They do not care about the happiness of the customers adopting their cats.

Wonderful place to volunteer or adopt House of Mews is a sort of rescue shelter for kitties and cats. The folks here are very nice and good to the animals, but they always need volunteers, so this is a good place to spend some philanthropic hours. Also, if you're looking to adopt, House of Mews is a good destination to find a cat who really needs a home.

Wonderful!! The House of Mews is a cat rescue/ santuary in the Cooper Young area of Memphis. It is a cat paradise. When you walk in the door, there are kitties every where! I adopted two kitties from them. It is a wonderful place and I highly recommend the House of Mews to anyone looking to adopt a kitty!

Cat Hoarder I tried adopting a cat from you. The lady I spoke with told me I was an unfit onwer cruel to anmial and that I wasn't the type of person they adopt cats to. All because I have a dog outside. She also attacked me personally on my job and where I live. I went there to adopt a cat after my cat I'd had for 21 years passed, she all but accused me of killing her. Obviously, if someone has a cat for 21 years they take very good care of it! Every review I read said the lady was mean to people also. If you really cared about getting this cats a permanent, loving home. try actually letting people

A wonderful place for sweet animals House of Mews is such a great place because the people here take good care of the animals and they try their best to match cats with the right owners. They're always in need of volunteers and people who want to adopt. They also host a 5k (and have for a few years now). It's a fun run and proceeds go to the facility and taking care of the cats.

Traumatic Experience The House of Mews is a very wonderful place which I very much enjoyed. My experience although with the service was absolutely terrifying. The lady in the store was elderly with gray hair. Seemed nice at first until she came up to the front. She was very very rude & cruel. She spoke to me with hate & questioned my knowledge on certain things. She told me that she felt sorry for me & was worried about my lack of knowledge on cats being nudered & spained. She belittled me & made me very sad that day. The place is too nice for someone of that nature to be working there or better yet even owning her own business. I'm still bothered by my experience there & even wanted to cry because of how poorly I was treated. She spoke to me like I was made of trash ready to be thrown away. My bf was with me & he couldn't take it anymore & started speaking up for me saying that she had been rude to us since we first walked in. We left but being treated that way made me realize that racism is real. That was my first racist experience I ever had & It changed my perception on a lot of things. I never got rude back with her I just left with a smile on my face because ppl like that don't have love in their life or a genuine heart & someone has to give it to them. I was really traumatized by this experience & don't even want to go near that side of town ever again. Then again I can't say that she was racist, maybe just a mean ole lady in general. If you go I hope your experience is better than mines because the cats are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for reading

I loved coming in and being able to play with and pet all the animals. The place appears very well kept, the animals look well taken care of and the women working at the time were very helpful and informative. I was hesitant to go there as I did not hear good things about the customer service, but I suppose they got their act together. Very nice place and would definitely recommend adopting from there.

I went in on a Saturday to see if I could sign up to volunteer. I am not sure what the lady's name was, she worked there and was very rude. After finally getting her to talk to me, I filled out an application. She told me to come in on Monday morning before 7am. I live across town but I managed to get there 10 minutes early. When I arrived she was walking out with some other volunteers. She said they started earlier than normal because of some filming on the street and the street was going to be closed. Did she call me? No! She contacted the other volunteers but not me. She had my contact number but she didn't call me. She forgot, she said. She rescheduled me to come back later in the week. So, I had to travel back across town during early rush hour. After thinking about how I was treated I thought, I am not going to go and volunteer for someone who doesn't treat her volunteers right. When I didn't show up the next time she called my house early in the morning looking for me. She said I would never be able to come back to the House of Mews. That is okay, I don't want to anyway. The conditions there are so nasty. She needs to hire professionals to clean the place not to mention the odor. The air in the building is not healthy to breathe. As for adopting any cats. I wouldn't. The animal shelter has cats for a cheaper price not to mention they are in a sanitary place.

We just went to The House of News with the intent of adopting two cats and making a donation. However, my husband and I brought our dog (who has been raised with our cats, is exceptionally well behaved, and a fully trained purebred husky). My husband waited outside with our dog while I went in to look at the cats and ask for an application; however, the woman behind the desk apparently didn't have the sense to realize that I owned the dog that was sitting outside, not making the least bit of trouble or even acknowledging all of the cats in the windows. This woman proceeds to make condescending, vicious, and absolutely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL remarks about my husband and our dog being outside, loudly enough for everyone inside to hear her. I calmly closed the cage I had been looking in, walked out, and will now make sure everyone knows how hateful and unprofessional this place is. How pathetic. This woman needs to seek some professional help for her malicious and attention-seeking behavior. I should know - I'm a psychiatric nurse. Do yourself a favor and adopt from someone who actually cares about animals. This woman clearly doesn't; it appears from other reviews that she'd rather let these poor cats rot in cages than go to good homes. So sorry to Smokey and Bentley; I couldn't bear to be in the presence of that evil woman any longer than 2 minutes, even if it does mean that you two precious babies have to stay in her clutches.
