I wanted to try somewhere new after my recent trip to Lisbon, support a local business and experience authentic Portuguese food. The positive reviews attracted us, so perhaps we caught them on a bad day, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. We ordered a whole chicken, chips and cod fish cakes for takeaway. The chicken was dry, overcooked and bland. Portuguese-style chicken should be well-seasoned, charred and full of flavour, but this had chewy skin and very little seasoning. House of Chicken was one of the first restaurants we visited when we moved here 9 years ago. We still come back regularly, and the quality of the food and the warm welcome have never changed. The service is always friendly and the food is consistently delicious. Highly recommended!
