My wife and I had a stayed here while we were in town for some outdoor adventures. It was a great spot for us to have a comfortable place to sleep after a day of agate hunting, hiking, swimming, etc... Staff are friendly and accommodating and it's walking distance from most of the places to eat in town. Coffee at the attached coffee shop was good.

I stayed here for several nights while visiting the McDonald Observatory at the beginning of this century. Very nice and quiet, it was by far the most convenient choice for a visitor to the observatory at the time, otherwise, I’d have had to drive to Alpine. There was a big cat that would greet me every morning when I’d come back from observing. I think it was still about 90° in the morning. I’m joking. It gets nice and cool at night there in summer.
