We were a little hesitant about eating here because there were only two reviews, but we were very satisfied with the meal. We ordered the grilled haddock and the fish tasted very fresh. My wife doesn’t like fish, but she loved the grilled haddock. The bread pudding was also delicious. The interior and furniture was very 18th century. The server was also dressed in 18th century attire. The plates and cutlery were made of pewter.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Hôtel de la Marine in Louisbourg and were transported back in time not just by the incredible setting of the fortress, but by the warm hospitality we received. A special shoutout to Sara, who served us with such kindness and grace. The pea soup she brought out was absolutely delicious simple, hearty, and full of flavor, just the way it might have been served centuries ago. It truly hit the spot after a day of exploring.

Hotel De La Marine in the Fortress of Louisbourg offers flavourful meals served on period plates and cutlery. Made from simple ingredients, like those available in the 18th century, the meals they serve today are hot and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the pea soup, the beef stew and the Fortress Rum cake. The servers, dressed in period clothing, were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the area's history - which nicely rounded out the whole visit to this Parks Canada historical site.
